A MAN with a cannabis issue has admitted assaulting his stepfather and causing damage at his Flintshire home.

Oliver Homig, 22, of Salisbury Street in Shotton, appeared from custody at a weekend sitting of North East Wales Magistrates Court on Saturday after he failed to turn up on an earlier occasion.

He admitted assaulting Stephen Paul Jones on February 27 and damaging a bathroom mirror and back door window at his home in Strand Park, Holywell, on September 23 last year.

Sentence was adjourned until Tuesday and he was rebailed on condition that he does not enter Holywell and has no contact with the complainant.

Prosecutor Mairead Neeson told how the complainant and his partner realised money had gone from their account, they accused Homig, he denied being involved but lost his temper and caused damage valued at £140.

He became verbally abusive with his mother, was removed from the property after smashing the mirror and he than broke the back door window.

On February 27 Homig asked to use the complainant's mobile phone and was told that he could do so if he stayed in the lounge.

But when he tried to take the phone upstairs the complainant asked for the phone back, Homig became abusive and dropped the phone.

He swung his arms at both his mother and Mr Jones and caught the complainant below the eye.

Homig continued to be aggressive and was put in a headlock and taken outside.

Homig was said by defence solicitor Nick Cross to have issues with cannabis but he was willing to work with the probation service to help him deal with that.

"That is the main cause of his offending and he wants to address the issue," Mr Cross said.
