A VISUALLY-impaired man was attacked and robbed after he went to a Deeside flat to buy cannabis, a court was told.

Lee Kutryk tricked Anthony Singleton to accompany him to behind the property in Quay Wharf, Connah's Quay, to make the drug transaction.

But when he got there he and Kieran Albino set about him stealing his Sekonda watch worth £70 and a £20 note from his back pocket.

Kutryk, it was claimed, then booted Singleton in the face as he tried to get up causing him to lose several teeth.

Mold Crown Court heard how Mr Singleton bumped into Kutryk in Norman Street, Connah's Quay, earlier on the day of the alleged robbery and made an arrangement to meet him that evening.

He said he was given a lift by his father to the property where the door had been left ajar and he heard Kutryk call him around the back where two other men were waiting.

“I was struck to the side of my face (by Kutryk) and then by another male and as I tried to run off I was dragged to the floor. They searched me and took my wrist watch and cash from my back pocket,” Mr Singleton told the court.

“They kicked and punched me. When I thought it was over I got up on my knee but then Kutryk kicked me to the face.”

Barrister Brian Treadwell, prosecuting, explained that Mr Singleton’s long-sight had deteriorated significantly as a result of him previously suffering with a brain tumour.

While he did not recognise his second assailant, forensic analysis found a DNA match for Albino on the victim’s back pocket while traces of Kutryk’s DNA was found on his jacket.

Mr Singleton tried to cover up the reason for his trip when he was first interviewed by police and asked his father to cover for him too, only revealing the true purpose later.

Kutryk told police he was never at the flat and that he was with his girlfriend at the time.

But the prosecutor said DNA from “two connected defendants” had been recovered from “two locations” on Mr Singleton.

Kutryk, 24, of North Street, Shotton and Albino, 27, of no fixed abode, both deny robbery on December 19.

The trial continues.
