Gresford Athletic boss Steve Halliwell believes that Bangor City's current financial plight could provoke a 'big performance' from the Gwynedd side this weekend.

The Citizens revealed debts of £80,000 after bailiffs visited Nantporth Stadium on Monday evening with the club owing £25,000 in unpaid utilities bills.

The incident was the latest ignominy for the club, who were demoted from the Welsh Premier League last term after after failing to obtain an FAW Domestic Licence.

Saturday's game will now be played at Conwy's Y Morfa ground, with water and electricity supplies currently cut off at Bangor's home.

The loss of key players in January has hindered Gary Taylor-Fletcher's side further, but Halliwell is braced for a stern test.

He said: "Bangor are a huge club, one of the biggest in Wales, and I think it's a massive shame for the supporters that they find themselves in this situation.

"I hope they can find a solution and get back on track, because Welsh football needs them.

"With all that's gone on - losing in the cup to Caernarfon last week and the financial problems there, the players are going to want to put in a big performance for their fans.

"It doesn't matter which players they've lost this month, there's still a very decent squad there who can cause us problems."

The Colliers are in solid form and head into the game on a seven-game unbeaten run.

Halliwell is keen to sustain that momentum and for his side to prove their quality against the league's top sides.

"Our aim is to keep this good run going and to continue picking up points.

"Performances have been excellent over the last few weeks and we need to keep showing that we can compete against the likes of Bangor in this division."

On-loan Wrexham Youth midfielder Sam Pilkington could be handed his first start for Gresford, while fellow new recruit Lewis George could feature up front after joining from Cefn Druids for the remainder of the season.
