Indian restaurant named best in Leeds two years in a row

One of the city centre's most-loved curry houses has been named the best in Leeds for the second year running.

Tharavadu, on Mill Hill, was shortlisted in two categories at the 2019 English Curry Awards, which recognises the greatest Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi food across the country.

For the second year in a row, the Leeds city centre eatery took home the accolade for the best south Indian restaurant in the UK.

It beat nine other restaurants in the category from the likes of Oxford, Manchester and Liverpool.

Tharavadu has featured in the Michelin Restaurant Guide for the past three years, with food critics championing the Keralan cuisine on offer.

It is also on LeedsLive 's list of the 11 best curry houses in the city. Take a look at the other places to make the grade.

Five other curry houses in Leeds were also shortlisted in other categories, but Tharavadu was the only one to come home with a trophy.
