New data has revealed the Leeds high schools that have received the most first-choice applications from parents for places in September.

The mad dash to secure a spot at one of the best-performing secondary schools in Leeds can be a stressful process for parents and pupils across the city.

Parents can allocate up to five schools in order of preference when submitting their requests to Leeds City Council.

The figures show that the most popular high school in Leeds is Abbey Grange Church of England Academy in West Park. The north Leeds academy is 17 times more popular than Leeds Jewish Free School, the least favoured high school in Leeds.

Roundhay School is the second-most popular high school in Leeds, with more than 450 parents selecting it as their first-choice for their kids.

Allerton High School, Rodillian Academy and Woodkirk Academy make up the rest of the top five.

All the figures above were released by Leeds City Council on the Data Mill North website.

In terms of second-choice places, Roundhay School was streets ahead of the next closest school. 512 parents listed the north Leeds school as their second-choice, with Abbey Grange Church of England Academy getting 334 second-choice ticks.

Although Allerton High School only came third on the list of the most popular schools in Leeds, separate data from earlier this year suggested that it was the best school in the city for GCSE results.

Pupils got an average Attainment 8 score of 57.8 - with 84 per cent passing English and Maths. No other school in Leeds performed this well.
