A multi-vehicle crash has closed lanes of the A1 near Leeds.

The accident happened on the northbound carriageway between junction 44 for Bramham and junction 45 for Boston Spa at around 1.15pm.

Highways England have said lanes three and two - of three - are closed and officers from West Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Unit are on the scene.

All lanes open

All lanes have been reopened on the A1 after a multi-vehicle accident.

Lanes two and three (of three) were closed until around 1.40pm when traffic was held. Travel time is still at around 25 minutes while traffic clears.

Queues back to the M1

Google Maps is showing extremely long queues on the A1 already.

It is taking drivers 52 minutes to navigate just over four miles of traffic after two lanes were closed between junction 44 and 45.
