Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear says he is 'confident' that Jack Clarke will make a speedy return to Marcelo Bielsa's side.

The 18-year-old fell ill in the dugout during the second half of Leeds' 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough and was taken to hospital for treatment before bring discharged on Saturday evening.

Marcelo Bielsa would later dedicate the 2-1 win over Swansea City to Clarke, but ahead of the Wednesday evening clash Kinnear gave an update on the winger.

"Jack Clarke gave everyone a scare in the second half when he was taken unwell," Kinnear said in his programme notes.

"Despite the situation being deeply concerning for players and backroom staff alike, the fact is there are few better places for an individual to suffer such an incident than sitting in between head of medicine Rob Price and first-team doctor Rahul Lakhera."

Play was stopped on the pitch for almost ten minutes while Leeds and Boro's medical staff attended to Clarke, who was given oxygen and taken into the dressing room before being taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.

Kinnear went on to say that before the current regime arrived at Elland Road, the bench would not have been so well stocked with medical experts on an away day.

"Only a couple of years ago the club wasn't taking a doctor on away trips and this was the first thing we addressed when we became custodians.

"Jack has now received the best care and diagnostic services available and we are confident he will make a quick return to training and soon be using his unique ability to torment opposing defences."

In his post-match press conference Marcelo Bielsa said that the win over Swansea was dedicated to the teenager.

"We would like to dedicate this win to Jack Clarke," said the Argentine.

"Because we all feel he deserves it, each of us, believes he deserves this win. And we hope he will recover well and as soon as possible.

"We will let him take all the time he needs to recover."

Leeds now face a ten-day gap in fixtures, owing to QPR's involvement in the FA Cup. Bielsa's side are next in action against Bolton at Elland Road on Saturday February 23.
