Hebe, a four-month-old American Bulldog, was taken from Morrisons off the A47, on Wednesday August 28 after she was left in the back of a car with the window down.

With the help of a widespread online campaign and a story on LeicestershireLive , the beloved pup has been reunited with her owners, who live in Barwell .

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: "On Monday we issued an appeal to find a missing American bulldog - called Hebe - who was taken from a car in a supermarket car park in Hinckley.

"We can confirm Hebe has been found and reunited with her owner. Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal."

Klaudia Urban, 17, was delighted to have the family pooch back in her arms after six days without her.

She said: “I can’t explain how happy I am now I know she is home with us. We are not taking her in the car any more. We’re just keeping her at home.

“I didn’t think anything like this would happen.”

Klaudia and her mum had only left Hebe alone for 10 minutes with their other dog, Heri, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, while they went into the shop.

They left the window down as it was hot and because Heri likes to look out through the window.

Fortunately, the young dog doesn’t appear to have been scarred by the incident and was soon playing in the garden again after she got home.

“When she saw me and our other dog she was back to normal”, Klaudia said.

“She seems well fed. We’re going to go to the vet soon to get her checked out.”

Lisa Dean, who runs dog search group Beauty’s Legacy, told the family the good news when they had tracked Hebe down and the puppy had been handed back safe and well.

She said: “It was very emotional, I got the pleasure of calling the owners to tell them she was safe, it was just lovely.

“It was team work once again - a lot happens behind the scenes.”

Earlier this year, Lisa reunited a pair of Chihuahuas with their owner after they were stolen from the back of an SUV in Sainsbury’s car park in Hinckley.

The Facebook group set up to track them down was used again in the search for Hebe, with more than 5,000 members helping with the search.
