Stunning aerial footage shows the vast scale of a business park going up on the edge of a county town.

The drone footage, made for construction company Winvic, shows work on Hinckley Park - a new £225 million warehousing and industrial site, on land between the A5 and M69 in Hinckley.

Parcel company DPD is creating £150 million new super-hub on the 82 acre site which is set to eventually create around 2,000 jobs.

There will also be a 532,000 sq ft speculative warehouse as well as room for up to 450,000 sq ft of industrial space.

The developer, IM Properties, said 280 full-time jobs are being created during each year of construction.

The developer, along with DPD, Winvic Construction Ltd and Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council recently signed an agreement to support local apprenticeships, training and work experience on the site.

IMP development director, Richard Lawrence, said he believed Hinckley Park will support growth and regeneration across the region.

He said: “Throughout this project IM Properties have forged a great relationship with Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and is committed to supporting the local economy through the Hinckley Park development.

“By working with the council, the Department for Work and Pensions, and North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College, we will provide access for school children, unemployed residents and job-seeking students to all employment, apprenticeship and training opportunities that flow from our construction contracts.

“We will also look to provide a window to the world of the industrial and logistic sector and its associated supply chain and provide young people with the chance to gain valuable site and project related work experience.”

IM Properties is also delivering a package of sustainable transport measures, including additional bus services, new footways and cycle ways to improve access and safety for pedestrians.

On top of that the developer is working with North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College to give jobseekers hands-on experience during construction.

They are working with Hinckley groundworks specialists WK Construction to create a work academy which will deliver “fast track” training.

Candidates who complete an initial assessment with Jobcentre Plus will be nominated for the three-week scheme at the college’s Harrowbrook construction campus and at IM Properties’ Hinckley Park site.

Work is well underway

Training activities will include preparing ground, laying slabs, edging, dumper driver training, health and safety, employability skills and will conclude in the completion of the Construction Skills Certification Scheme qualification.

Successful candidates will be guaranteed interviews for permanent jobs.
