Fears are growing for the safety of a Warwickshire man who was last seen in Leicester city centre a week ago.

Michael Dowling was spotted near London Road railway station last Wednesday, police said today, but has not been seen or heard from since.

In a statement this afternoon, Warwickshire Police, which is leading the search for the 58-year-old, said: "Michael is white, of slim build, approximately 5ft 7ins with short light brown hair, blue eyes and a scar to his left eyebrow.

"He is believed to be wearing jeans and trainers, and carrying a small blue holdall."

Mr Dowling, from Rugby, is believed to have connections to Leicester and London.

A spokesperson for the force said officers were growing "increasingly concerned" for Mr Dowling's welfare and were asking anyone who sees him to come forward.

Leicestershire Police has circulated the force's appeal.

Earlier this year, members of the local force's missing people team gave LeicestershireLive an insight into how it deals with more than 5,000 cases a year, ranging from children in care to vulnerable adults.
