A convicted rapist is still on the run – 10 days after fleeing from an open prison.

Police are still hunting Stephen Tierney and warn that he may have travelled to Leicestershire.

Officers have issued a warning to the public not to approach the 39-year-old who absconded from Lincolnshire open prison HMP North Sea Camp on July 3.

The convict has connections to Leicestershire and it is believed he may have used public transport, reports LincolnshireLive.

Tierney was last spotted in the Market Place in Boston, Lincolnshire, on the day he fled from HMP North Sea Camp.

Tierney is described as being about 5ft 7ins tall, of small build, with brown/ginger hair.

He has the word ‘wrist’ tattooed on his right arm.

He also has connections to Northamptonshire and London.

Lincolnshire Police is working with Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire police forces, and British Transport Police to try to trace the convict.

A police spokesperson told  Lincolnshire Live   : “Tierney has been assessed as posing a medium risk of violence towards the public who are advised not to approach him.

"He is serving a sentence for  a previous rape offence ."
