The number of coronavirus cases in Leicestershire has risen by nine, according to figures released by Public Health England today (May 30).

Across the UK, there are now 272,826 lab-confirmed patients and 38,376 people have passed away after testing positive for Covid-19.

This represents a rise of 2,445 and 215 respectively over the past 24 hours.

In Leicestershire, there are now 2,183 confirmed coronavirus cases - an increase of nine over the same time period.

Of those who have tested positive, 891 of them are within the Leicester City Council area and the other 1,292 are in the Leicestershire County Council area.

According to the latest figures from Public Health England, released today, it represents a rise of seven and two respectively over 24 hours.

Hospital bosses say four more patients with coronavirus have died in Leicester bring the total close to the 350 mark.

The University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) NHS Trust confirmed the fatalities of patients being treated at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, Glenfield and General hospitals this afternoon.

The trust said the ages of those who have died were between their 70s and 90s.
