A cyclist in his 70s suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run crash.

Police said today that they were trying to trace the driver of a silver Ford who failed to stop after hitting the cyclist in Broom Leys Road, Coalville, at about 11.15am on Sunday, December 21.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries but has since been discharged, and is recovering at home.

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said the crash happened near to the traffic lights at the junction with Stephenson Way.

They added: “The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene and left in the direction of Stephenson Way.

“We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the collision or saw either the cyclist or the silver Ford prior to the incident.”
