A woman who was reported missing by a concerned friend this week has not been seen for six months, police discovered.

Leicestershire Police said its officers were made aware of the report about 43-year-old Linda Chambers on Tuesday.

Subsequently, they established that Linda, who lives in Loughborough, has not been seen since April.

Linda, who lived alone, is white, 5ft 3in and has shoulder-length brown hair. She also wears glasses.

Officers are particularly concerned she does not have her medication with her.

In a statement today, the force said: "Linda has a bus pass and uses public transport to get around.

"She is known to regularly visit a gift shop in Churchgate, Loughborough and also often visits Queen’s Park in the town."

Detective Inspector Simon Boden, of the force's missing persons operations team, said: “We’re currently trying to piece together information about Linda that could help us find out where she might be.

“As she’s not been seen for some time, both police and her family are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare – and we are asking for public help to find her.

“Please look closely at the photograph of Linda – do you recognise her?

"We know she uses the bus to get around. Do you use public transport?

"Have you seen her on a bus in or around Loughborough? She may also have travelled further afield.

“Have you seen someone that looks like her in Queen’s Park, or visiting shops in Loughborough – particularly in Churchgate?

"Even if it was some time ago, any details you have could help us to find her.”
