Friends and family of a missing Leicester man will gather tonight in the spot he was last seen a week ago ago.

A ‘slow walk’ is being planned in Belgrave as part of the campaign to find Paresh Patel.

The 48-year-old has not been seen since 9pm on Saturday November 10 and police and his relatives are growing increasingly concerned for him.

The ‘Walk for Paresh’ will retrace his last know movements in the hope it could jog memories in the community and lead to new information that could help find him.

Where and When?

It is hoped a large number of people will turn out for the walk and people are being asked to gather outside Belgrave Library in Cossington Street at 8.30pm.

The walk will begin at 9pm and continue up the road to the Gandhi statue near Donaldson Road.

Paresh, who works for the Inland Revenue in Leicester, was reported missing on Sunday November 11.

He has never gone missing from home before and requires medication which he does not have with him.

Family members, including his wife Kalpana, have made a number of emotional public appeals to try to get him to make contact but so far he has not re-appeared.

His sister-in-law Priti Patel said: “It is totally out of character for Paresh to go off like this. We all just want him home and we are doing as much as we can to make that happen.

“We want as many people to come and join the walk to raise awareness and keep Paresh in everyone’s minds.”

Police are carrying out extensive inquiries to find Paresh, including searches in the Belgrave area and checking CCTV footage.

They have also searched the lake in Abbey Park and stretches of the River Soar and Grand Union Canal.

Leaflets bearing his photograph have also been circulated widely in the community.

Sergeant Jon Douds, of the force’s missing persons team, said: “It is out of character for Paresh to be missing.

“We are extremely concerned for Paresh’s health and welfare.

“He has a condition which requires daily medication and we cannot be sure if he has this medication with him.”
