Lives not knives - what Leicester's shoppers think about knife crime in the city

We spoke to shoppers about their perceptions of a rising use of weapons on our streets

Incidents of people carrying blades have been hitting the headlines both nationwide and here in Leicester.

Leicestershire Police is running a campaign to tackle knife crime in Leicester and raise more awareness of these types of crimes in the city.

Their campaign #LivesNotKnives aims to showcase the consequences of knife crime by  showing the aftermath that the families left behind now face. A harsh reality becoming seemingly more common these days.

So is knife crime on the rise, or are we just becoming more aware of weapons in our community? And how can a problem that affects so many people in Leicester and around the rest of the UK be tackled?

We took to the streets of Leicester to ask what people thought of the issue.
