Emergency services were at the scene of a crash on a busy city roundabout.

Redhill Circle was partially blocked on the Birstall side of the roundabout.

Area Traffic Control Leicester warned drivers to expect delays.

Woman taken to hospital and road remains open

Police have confirmed the incident only involved one car, which left the road. A woman who was driving the car has been taken to hospital.

There are no road closures in place and the traffic appears to be coping.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at 12.40pm today to a report of a car having left the carriageway at Red Hill Circle.

“Police attended along with colleagues from East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service.

“A woman has been taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary and further details of her condition are not known.”

One car involved, police, fire and ambulance on the scene

The crash is thought to have involved one car and the fire service said they were called at 12.40pm.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were currently at the scene, along with the police and East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Further details from Leicestershire Police are expected shortly.

Queues on approach to Red Hill Roundabout

The traffic most badly affected seems to be coming from the west and the north, with some queues along Red Hill Way and the stretch of Loughborough Road from Birstall towards Leicester.
