Police are dealing with a 'traffic incident' in a city street.

Leicestershire Police tweeted: "Officers are dealing with a traffic incident on New Park Street, Leicester.

"There are diversions in place but if possible please find an alternative route."

Following on from a report that a HGV had broken down on New Park Street earlier this morning, police have now confirmed the road is open.

Police confirm that the incident involves a broken down HGV at the mini roundabout

Leicestershire Police have confirmed that they are dealing with a broken down lorry at the mini roundabout close to Tesco on New Park Street.

A spokeswoman said: “The incident was reported at 9.15am this morning after a lorry had broken down on the mini roundabout close to Tesco.

“Traffic is slow as the incident is being dealt with.”
