Fire crews are tackled a huge blaze within the Mira testing facility on the A5, near Hinckley this afternoon.

Thick, black smoke is filling the sky and could be seen for miles around.

The A5 was partially closed as 999 services dealt with the major incident.

Some good news

The blaze was controlled and extinguished shortly before 4pm.

There are now 3 fire engines on site damping the affected area down to make sure it does not re-ignite.

Scale of the damage

The fire service has updated us on the incident.

Fifteen cars, two trailers and one forklift were involved in the fire.

There was also liquid petroleum on site but this did not ignite.

No casualties

Horiba Mira, which runs the facility, has tweeted to say the fire on the site is out and there have been no casualties

The blaze has broken out in a large one storey temporary building measuring 15m by 50m

Massive 999 response

The fire service has deployed 10 engines and four special appliances to the scene to fight the fire.
