A road has been closed after a crash.

Fleckney Road, in Wistow, is shut outside Wistow Lodges.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area.

Emergency services are at the scene.

Police reveal what where crashed car was headed

A police spokesman has told LeicestershireLive that the officers were heading to Scraptoft before the collision.

They were responding to a report of a man seen with an axe.

A statement from the police.

Leicestershire Police have given us the following statement:

"Shortly before 12.45pm today, a car being driven by officers responding to an incident collided with a tree in Fleckney Road, Wistow.

"Two officers were in the vehicle and no other vehicles were involved.

"No serious injuries have been reported. However, Fleckney Road remains closed at this time."

One person has been injured

Firefighters say one person has sustained minor injuries which are being treated at the scene.

The accident happened at about 12.50pm.

Collision with a tree

The fire service says the police vehicle has left the road and collided with a tree.

Other police vehicles then were called to the scene.

We've heard from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service which has been called to the scene.

A spokeswoman said a police vehicle has been in an accident.
