A man in his 90s has died after being hit by a car on a village road.

The man, who was on foot, suffered serious injuries in the crash, which happened in Thringstone, near Coalville, at about 9am on Wednesday.

He was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre, in Nottingham, but has since died.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: “No other injuries were reported and no-one has been arrested in connection with the incident.”

The incident happened in The Green, near the junction with Brook Lane, and involved a silver Nissan car.

Detective Sergeant Ady Keeble, of Leicestershire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the investigation into the incident.

He said: “I would still like to speak to anyone who saw what happened but has not yet contacted police.

“I would also like to speak to anyone who saw either the pedestrian or the car prior to the collision occurring.

“If you were driving in either The Green or Brook Lane on Wednesday morning and have a dashcam installed in your vehicle, then please get in touch.”
