A man is due in court today in connection with an alleged hammer attack in the city's West End yesterday.
The 25-year-old man has been charged following what police are describing as a “serious assault”.
Officers were called to Upperton Road at around 10.15am yesterday following a report that a man had been assaulted with a hammer.
The victim, a man in his 30s, remains in hospital where he is receiving treatment for his injuries.
Brett Roughton, of Upperton Road, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court today.
