This year's Miss Leicestershire was chosen at an eco-inspired Miss England semi-final last week.

The Miss England East Midlands Semi Final took place at Leicester Tigers Stadium on Friday, featuring an ethical fashion catwalk and a little black dress contest.

17-year-old Millie Richardson, from Broughton Astley, won the Miss Leicestershire title and an array of prizes.

Millie, who works as a Giorgio Armani make up artist, took home a professional photoshoot with photographer Stu Williamson and a £100 voucher from Ellie Wilde by Mon Cheri.

Five other Leicestershire women will join her at the Miss England 2019 finals this summer.

They are two sisters, Tia and Sapphire Carter, from Leicester. Sapphire held the Miss Leicestershire crown in 2016.

Rosin Richardson from Loughborough, Niamh Kirk from Leicester, and Jess Tastar from Hinckley will also compete for the crown.

Seven other contestants from towns and cities across the East Midlands were also chosen by the judges.

They took home £100 evening gown vouchers from Ellie Wilde by Mon Cheri, a special trophy, and a two-night stay for the Miss England national finals.

The brief for the contestants was #wearitgreen to raise awareness on the importance of recycling.

Contestants wore an array of outfits made from bin bags, bottle tops, fabric and plastic waste, and their parents' old clothing in the colorful show which was streamed live on YouTube.

Hosts for the show were Nuneaton-based vocalist Jordan Williams, and former Miss Leicestershire Megan Elliot.

Over £12,000 was also raised for two charities, from the funds raised by the contestants and and a raffle - the Children's Cancer & Leukaemia Group based at Leicester Royal Hospital, and Hope Against Cancer.

Miss England 2019 national finals take place on 31 July - 1 August, with the location to be announced next week.

The top prize in Miss England 2019 is a luxury holiday to Mauritius, a wardrobe of eveningwear worth over £25k, and a place in Miss World.
