A motorcyclist was taken to hospital then discharged and arrested after he crashed into a parked car on a Leicester street.

The 39-year-old was arrested after the incident on Thurncourt Road in Thurnby Lodge last night.

Police closed Thurncourt Road between the junctions of Radiant Road and Compass Road for more than three hours to examine the scene.

The road was closed between 10.26pm yesterday and 1.37am today.

A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said: “We were called to Thurncourt Road at 8.34pm after a motorcycle was in collision with a stationary car.

“The rider was taken to Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham and discharged after treatment.

“A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

“He remains in custody.”
