Two men and a teenager who were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following a double stabbing in Melton last night have been released from police custody.

One of the men, a 32-year-old from Nottingham, remains in hospital where he is being treated for a stab wound.

Although he has been released from custody, Leicestershire Police said he remained ‘under investigation’ while his treatment continues.

The other people, a 33-year-old from Melton and an 18-year-old from Nottingham, have been released on police bail.

Police were called to an address in Bentley Street, near the town’s Morrisons supermarket, at 11.30pm yesterday to investigate a report that a man had been stabbed.

They found the 32-year-old Nottingham man and he was taken to hospital.

While at the scene, the officers found the 33-year-old Melton man who had also been stabbed.

He was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary but was later discharged and taken into custody.

The 18-year-old Nottingham man was arrested at the scene.

Tonight, Detective Inspector Tim Lindley said: “Inquiries are continuing and we urge anyone who has any information to get in touch.
