A cyclist allegedly attacked a man after a 'brief exchange of words' outside a town supermarket.

The confrontation is reported to have taken place outside the Lidl store in Station Avenue, off Derby Road, Loughborough , on Thursday last week.

Leicestershire Police has appealed for witness to the assault, which it said was carried out between 5pm and 7pm.

Pc James Bettles said: “We know there were a number of people around at the time the incident took place and we are keen to hear from them.

“We especially want to locate a man who was seen on a bicycle in Station Avenue.

"He could have valuable information to assist with our inquiries.

“Were you in the area? Did you see what happened? Do you know who was responsible?”
