Any plans you've made for this coming weekend might need to be cancelled to make way for snow-based activities.

The white stuff might finally be on its way to Leicestershire.

After a fairly mild winter so far, many of us have been on the edge of seats waiting for sprinkling of the weather that makes us feel more festive and gives the little ones something exciting to do.

Both The Weather Channel and Met Office have predicted that snow will make an appearance in Leicestershire on Saturday (December 15).

The Weather Channel are predicting a mix of snow, rain and wind and the Met Office have estimated rain with some hill snow, moving east.

So if might well be a case of keeping a fingers crossed that the snow settles for long enough for the kids to at least have a few turns on the sledge.

Here's the Leicestershire forecast for the next five days according to the Weather Channel:

Wednesday December 12: Cloudy, lows of 1C, highs of 5C.

Thursday December 13: Mostly cloudy, lows of -1C, highs of 4C.

Friday December 14: Mostly cloudy, lows of -1C, highs of 4C.

Will the snow settle enough for the kids to enjoy it properly?

Saturday December 15: Mix of rain, snow and wind lows 4C, highs of 4C.

Sunday December 16: Showers, lows of 4C, highs of 7C.
