Coalville Town FC has announced player Courtney Wildin has been diagnosed with leukaemia.

The 22-year-old Ravens defender is now in hospital undergoing treatment for his illness, reported the club in a statement.

Wilding has also played for Midlands side Nuneaton Boro but joined Coalville earlier this summer from Evo-Stick Premier Division side Nantwich Town.

Chairman Glyn Rennocks has given the player his support.

He said: "Courtney has been a fantastic player both on and off the field since he joined us and we are all deeply shocked at the news.

"We will support him as best we can and we all wish him a speedy recovery."

And he wasn't the only one to offer support, fans of the club also took to Twitter to send their messages.

Among those was, Coalville Town manager, Adam Stevens, who tweeted that he was "shocked and sad" to hear of the news.

He also reiterated that the club will be "there every step of the way".
