A major road in Leicestershire was blocked for a while tonight after car crashed into a central reservation.

At least one lane of the of the A42 was blocked after the car hit the barrier on the westbound section between junction 11 for Appleby Magna and junction 12 for Measham.

A spokesman for the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said that a member of the public had reported the crash to them at 7.20pm.

He said: “One car had gone into the central reservation.

"There were no injuries at the incident.

“We moved the vehicle out of the way and removed debris from the carriageway.

“We cleared the scene and handed it over to the police and highways at 8.02pm.”

Fire crews from Coalville and Ashby attended the incident.
