Two women have been attacked by a man with a glass bottle in Watermead Park.

The incident took place shortly before 6.30pm yesterday (June 1).

It was reported that two 19-year-old women were hit with a bottle by a man they did not know.

It was also reported that the man was with another group of men and women.

Both female victims were taken to Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham where they were treated for their injuries.

Their injuries have not been reported as life-threatening and they have since been discharged.

A scene preservation remains in place at the park whilst Leicestershire Police carry out further inquiries into the incident.

Detective Sergeant Dan Robberts, from Charnwood criminal investigation department, said: “I am appealing for anyone with information about this incident to come forward.

“Were you in Watermead Park yesterday evening? Were you out for a walk or run? Did you see what happened or notice anyone acting in a way that caught your attention?

“Any information you have, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, could help with our investigation.”

No arrests have been made at this point in the investigation.
