We've spoken to Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service

They tell us they received a number of emergency calls about the fire, presumably from people in passing vehicles.

The calls came in from 12.13pm onwards.

The car in question was ‘well alight’ and on the hard shoulder when crews arrived, fire control tell us.

Occupant(s) safe and sound and out of the vehicle.

Fire tackled and crews are now clearing up their gear and getting ready to move on.
