Police investigating a fire at an Italian restaurant in Hinckley believe it was started deliberately.

Rossini in The Crescent complex has been shut all this week since the incident that took place last Sunday .

Now an arson probe has been launched by police following fire investigation work.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “Police were called to a fire at a restaurant in Lancaster Road, Hinckley, shortly after 11.30pm on Sunday 10 March.

“Following initial enquiries it is believed the fire was started deliberately and officers are currently investigating.

“Anyone with any information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 19*125670.”

A sign on the door of the restaurant said: “Closed due to fire.

“For any information regarding bookings call 07703 846951.”

Rossini was contacted for comment.

It did not say when the restaurant was expected to re-open.

the blaze is the second to hit the business since it relocated to The Crescent complex.

The restaurant was closed for two weeks in 2016 after a fire damaged the kitchen.

The re-opening night was attended by the then-Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri and players from Leicester Tigers among other VIPs.
