A main road in Coalville was closed to traffic after two cars collided, leaving one person hurt.

The smash happened at 10.45pm on Friday in Ashby Road, Coalville, near to the junction with Ravenstone Road.

Leicestershire Police shut the road while the driver was by assessed paramedics while still in the car.

The road was closed for police while the male casualty was released

Crews from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service then worked to release him.

At about 11.20pm he was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary for further assessment while the police arranged for the vehicle to be removed by recovery contractors.

The police were unable to give further details about the seriousness of the man's injuries.
