This drone footage shows what remains of the old Snibston Discovery Park site.

The attraction was closed by Leicestershire County Council in 2015 to save cash and most of the buildings were demolished to make way for new homes.

The video, taken by James Dawkins of Leicestershire from the Sky, shows what remains of the site near Coalville.

While most of the main buildings have since been knocked down, some of the machinery from Snibston Colliery which formed part of the attraction remains.

The pit top and the headstocks of the colliery can be seen in the footage.

In February of last year,

the Snibston Colliery

buildings were given grade II listed status. This means any plans for demolition of alteration must be granted permission by Historic England.

The park was also made up of an interactive museum, which was demolished, and featured exhibits, a colliery tour, a train, a fashion gallery among others.

The building was razed in March 2016 and the site has been empty ever since.

The site has since been sold by the county council, and there are plans to build 144 homes.

Plans include improving the remaining country park with a visitor centre, play area and 150-space car park, as well as new bike tracks, picnic tables, benches and paths .
