This Thursday the people of Hinckley and Bosworth have chosen a new borough council to represent them for the next four years.

The authority had been controlled by the Conservatives, who held 21 of the 34 seats, while there were 12 Liberal Democrat councillors and one Labour.

Eight current councillors did not contest their seats.

The borough is made up of 16 wards, with up to three councillors in each area.

And during a dramatic evening the Liberal Democrats took back control of the council from the Conservatives.

LeicestershireLive covered the election counts from the evening of Thursday, overnight until the final count is completed on Friday.
