For the first time in 15 years, the Leicester Mercury Motor Show has been cancelled.

The event, which was due to take place Leicester Racecourse, in Oadby on Saturday August 23 this year, had to be cancelled due to coronavirus

Last year, more than 9000 attended the free event, and this year 16 car dealerships we due to attend.

More than 200 brand new cars were to be displayed to the public, and 63 classic cars had been confirmed by January.

Usually, more than 100 classic cars would be on display at the motor show.

As well as all the cars that would have been on display, there would have also been more than 40 retail stands for the public to enjoy.

A spokesman for the motor show said: "It's disappointing the show has had to be cancelled but people's welfare is our concern."

The Leicester Mercury Motor Show will return on Saturday August 22 2021.
