Queues about two miles in each direction

There remain two southbound lanes closed and one lane northbound. With traffic able to pass the scene of the crash, the queues are not as bad as they could be. It appears the queue for southbound traffic is just over two miles and the queue for northbound traffic is just under two miles.

Crash is on the southbound side and diversions are being put in place

Highways England is putting in place diversions. Meanwhile, many vehicles are stuck on the southbound side behind the scene of the crash.

We are in the process of closing J22 #M1 Southbound due to an RTC. Traffic is heavy with a large amount of traffic behind the incident. Please avoid the area if possible. Diversion routes are in the process of being put in place.
