Traffic is queueing on the M1 this evening following a crash.

Two cars are reported to be involved in the incident which is causing delays between junction 22 for the A50 near Coalville and junction 21a near Kirby Muxloe.

Traffic held as debris littered carriageways

A Highways England spokesman said that the traffic was held to allow their staff to sweep away debris from the crash which was littering the carriageways.

“We were alerted to the incident at 5.31pm. it involved two cars.

“The cars were moved to the hard shoulder but traffic was held to allow staff to clear debris away.”

Nobody injured, say police

Leicestershire Police said that it was two-car crash and that nobody has been injured.

Traffic temporarily held

Traffic is queueing on the M1 following the crash.

All traffic was temporarily held on the southbound side of the motorway.

Traffic has been released but delays remain.
