The queue of traffic approaching the scene of the crash from Ashby is getting on for 1.5 miles long. From the east, there appear to be queues both on the Coalville ring road and through the town centre.

The emergency services expect the incident to be over shortly

Police have said the crash involved one car and one van and the road is not expected to stay blocked for long.

A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said: “We were called at 4.17pm today to a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A511.

“The people in the vehicles have been checked over by East Midlands Ambulance Service and the road is blocked with tail-backs forming.

“However, we are now just waiting for the vehicles to be recovered from the scene.”

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed they are not at the incident, which suggests there is no serious damage to either vehicle.
