Opening date and time confirmed for new McDonald's in Hinckley

A drive-thru McDonald’s branch is to open on a main road on the outskirts of Hinckley next week.

The two-floor, 160-seat venture on Dodwells Road, near the Dodwells island roundabout on the A5, will create 100 jobs in the area.

Featuring the fast food giant’s latest technology, it will include self-order kiosks, table service, a click and collect service via the app, plus a digital drive-thru menu board.

McDonald’s franchisee Lorraine Lee will be running the branch, while she also heads up the current McDonald’s in Hinckley, off the A47 on Wheatfield Way.

She said: “My team and I are thrilled to be opening a new restaurant in Hinckley, bringing more jobs to the local area and with it, new training and opportunities.

“The new restaurant will create 100 new jobs with flexible positions that can fit around family or study commitments.

“What’s more, the new digital drive-thru menu boards, self-order kiosks and table service have been designed to make our customers’ experience as positive as possible and we hope to see a fantastic response to these features.

“We hope to see customers and staff embracing the new features in this busy part of the town.”

Ms Lee has worked with the company since 1982 and has been a franchisee for almost 20 years, formerly running the Regent Street branch in Hinckley town centre, before it closed in 2007.

She is also the boss of the Beaumont Leys and Thurmaston outlets.

Plans were recently approved to demolish an Aldi superstore which is just to the north of the new McDonald’s on the A5, with the shop to be replaced with a bigger branch of the discount chain.

Fellow fast food giant KFC has also said it is looking to open a branch on the A5 outside Hinckley.

It already has one in the town off Coventry Road, near the Ashby Canal.

A spokesman for the chicken chain said previously: “We have bold ambitions to have over 1,000 restaurants in the UK and Ireland by 2020.

“We have a number of different formats and designs that are suitable for all locations.”

The Dodwells branch of McDonald’s will open its doors on Wednesday March 4 at 11am.
