Leicestershire Police are investigating a collision between a bus and a pedestrian in Coalville.

Meadow Lane is currently closed and emergency services are at the scene of the incident, a force spokeswoman said.

Area Traffic Control stated that the road is expected to remain closed for some time.

It advised motorists to find an alternative route.

The police spokeswoman said: “We are dealing with a collision in Meadow Lane, Coalville. It happened just after 4.30pm.

“It involved a bus and a pedestrian.

“The road is closed and emergency services are at the scene.”

Meadow Lane runs alongside Castle Rock High School.

A statement on its Facebook page posted this afternoon reads: "Meadow Lane is closed due to an incident - if you are collecting your child at 4.30pm today, we will be directing students to the Forest Way School (LE67 4UU, King Edward entrance on Warren Hills Road) to be picked up."

In a statement issued on social media shortly before 4pm, the police wrote: "Meadow Lane will be closed from the junctions of Abbots Oak Drive to Warren Hills Road due to a traffic incident.

"Please find an alternative route and follow our social media for updates."
