A man was found dead near a nature reserve in Loughborough this afternoon.

Police were called to Meadow Lane in the town just after 3pm today where a body was discovered.

A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said: "We were called to Meadow Lane in Loughborough just after 3pm after the body of a man was found.

"Inquiries were carried out at the scene and the death is not being treated as suspicious."

Police have now passed the case onto the coroner.

Residents in Loughborough reported seeing numerous police cars and forensic officers in the area of Loughborough Meadows nature reserve this afternoon.

There were also reports that a railway bridge was cordoned off.
