Police in Hinckley have asked parents and guardians to be vigilant after a rise in instances of graffiti in the town.

The beat team for the area has noticed an increase in graffiti tags around the town centre.

Hinckley Police said in a post on Facebook: “Not only is this a criminal offence but they also look unsightly and can be difficult to remove.

“Did you know most graffiti is caused across the country by young people aged between 13 and 19? If you have children in this age group, do you know what they do whilst out of the house?

“Are they returning with paint on clothing, shoes or hands?

“If so you may want to take the time to talk to them and check that they are not committing any offences.”

The beat team has launched an investigation which will include mapping locations where these offences have occurred and reviewing CCTV.

If you have any information, call 101.
