Police found more than 300 cannabis growing in a house in Coalville following a tip-off.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested after officers searched a house in Avenue Road yesterday.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: “The warrant, executed under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, is part of an ongoing crackdown into the production and supply of drugs across the North West Leicestershire Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA).

“More than 300 cannabis plants were recovered from the house.

“The man, who was present at the address when officers executed the warrant, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the production of cannabis.”

He remains in custody and enquiries are continuing.

Sergeant Ryan Ludlam, deputy commander for the North West Leicestershire NPA, said: “Officers executed the warrant following information passed on to us.

“Across the force we have a zero-tolerance approach towards the production and supply of drugs.

"This latest warrant is part of a series we’ve recently executed in Coalville to crack down on the issue.

“We’ll always listen to any concerns raised by our local communities and we’re grateful to those people who have provided us with information.”
