There have been traffic delays in Hinckley this afternoon following a collision in the town centre at lunchtime.

Recovery work is taking place after the colliision,  involving two cars,  in Lower Bond Street at around 1.30pm.

It’s understood a traffic light was damaged.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service are at the scene, although it’s understood no-one was injured

Area Traffic Control Leicester tweeted: “ #Hinckley warning big queues around the town centre accident recovery work is taking place on Lower Bond St...several lanes closed and the police are directing traffic.

"Traffic is struggling especially on The Borough & Mansion Street.”

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police said: “Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service are there because a traffic light was damaged and East Midlands Ambulance Service attended although it’s not thought anyone was injured.

“One of the cars is having to be recovered.”
