A Leicestershire vet is accused of kicking and stamping on a dog while working at a practice in the county.

Dr Jatinder Dhami, will face a Disciplinary Committee hearing next week in connection with that incident and other abuse allegations.

He will face the hearing with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) in London next week.

The charges relate to alleged incidents at the Vets4Pets practice in Market Harborough

He is also listed on the company's website as a vet in the St George's Retail Park practice.

A spokeswoman for Pets at Home, which owns Vets4Pets, confirmed that Dr Dhami has not been suspended from work in the wake of the allegations.

The hearing relates to a number of allegations of abuse at the Vets4Pets clinic in Market Harborough.

These charges have been outlined by the RCVS in a report.

The charges faced by Dr Dhami include an allegation of kicking and stamping on a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, on November 14 2017.

He is also accused of 'failing to have adequate regard for the welfare' of a Jack Russell terrier, between October 1 and November 30, 2017.

The charge more specifically relates to the animal being left in a sink 'without adequate reason, for an excessive period of time'.

Between April 22, 2017 and March 25, 2018, he is also accused of 'failing to have adequate regard' for the welfare of a kitten aged between approximately six and eight weeks.

He is accused of failing to take adequate steps to provide care to the kitten, including bedding and warmth.

The hearing takes place from Tuesday July 23 until Monday, July 29 at the RCVS offices in London.

Pets at Home has been approached for comment.

A spokeswoman for the company said they would be in a 'position to comment' once the hearing had concluded.
