A building site which is spilling into the road is Melton has been issued with a Community Protection Warning.

The site is on the corner of Grange Drive and Sapcote Drive and the warning notice was issued by Melton Borough Council after it said the owners 'failed to engage for a number of months'.

The building site was also said to 'have a detrimental impact on the quality of life of those living in the locality'.

The warning states that the owners of the site should re-instate the road, remove the obstruction and secure adequate fencing that will not endanger members of the public.

A spokesman for Melton Borough Council said: "The Council is aware of the issues presented by the active building site in Grange Drive, Melton Mowbray and has been working with the owner in an attempt to find a resolution. 

"A Community Protection Warning has been issued to the land owner which requires action within 14 days."

If the owner fails to comply with the requirements of the warning, then will be issued with a £100 fine or could even be prosecuted and fined up to £2,500.

Melton Borough Council’s Assistant Director for Strategic Planning & Regulatory Services said: "The Council will continue to take appropriate enforcement action where there is a detrimental impact on the lives of residents.

"Failure to comply with this warning could result in the Council serving a Community Protection Notice.

"Failure to comply with the notice could result in a fine of £100 or the owner being prosecuted which could result in a fine of up to £2500."
