Approval has been granted for the first 260 homes at a planned 850-home scheme in Hinckley.

Bloor Homes has been granted detailed planning permission from Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council for the first phase of homes in its Normandy Way development.

It is the first phase of a planned 850-home scheme.

Fifty two of the 260 homes will be provided as affordable housing, with a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom properties available.

Paul Degg, regional managing director of Bloor Homes Midlands, said: "This first phase will see the construction of 260 new homes, along with the provision of a park and other formal and informal green spaces.

This is an exciting development that will create a new community on the outskirts of Hinckley, providing a range of much-needed new housing to cater for a variety of purchasers, from first-time buyers to growing families and downsizers.

“The Normandy Way scheme will eventually include up to 850 new homes, retail space, a primary school and new community facilities with sport pitches, parkland, children’s play areas and allotments.

"The new homes have been carefully designed to reflect the character and style of existing properties in Hinckley and the surrounding villages.”

Access to the site will be provided via a new junction on Normandy Way. As part of its work on the development, Bloor Homes will be improving footpath and cycle routes along the A47, as well as planting additional trees and hedgerows.

"The new development will be served by a main bus route to Hinckley town centre.
