Police pursued a stolen vehicle and arrested a suspect who tested positive for drugs outside Hinckley .

Officers were running a traffic operation at Hinckley Island Hotel on the A5 when they were called to help with the pursuit.

The force was monitoring where the A5 meets the M69 to catch drivers breaking the law.

They recorded four drivers using mobile phones, four not wearing a seatbelt and two defective tyre offences, as well as two who skipped a red light.

Other offences included one vehicle without a valid MOT and a vehicle that was seized because it was uninsured.

One of three unmarked lorry tractor units was also on display, which are used by police to police the nation's motorway network.

Tachometer checks were conducted on HGVs and there was one medical emergency from a stop check, where a young child had to be transported to hospital.

Officers also responded to a report of an elderly man walking along a fast road in the area.
