Caglar Soyuncu could make his first Leicester City appearance of the year when the club return to action after the international break.

Soyuncu has not featured since the 1-0 home defeat to Cardiff at the end of December.

But with Harry Maguire suspended after his red card in the 2-1 win over Burnley, Soyuncu will be considered by Brendan Rodgers when City host Bournemouth on March 30.

City skipper Wes Morgan, who recently signed a one-year contract extension, filled the hole left by Maguire at Turf Moor, scoring the winner in the 90th minute.

He will be the favourite to partner Jonny Evans, but Soyuncu’s work at City’s Belvoir Drive training ground could see him selected.

“(Soyuncu) has done very well in training,” said Rodgers.

“There’s been stability with the two centre-halves, Harry and Jonny, but it gives us a chance, and we’ll look at him for the next game.”

Soyuncu has only started three Premier League games since arriving from Freiburg in a £19million deal last summer, all games in which City failed to win.

Despite his lack of game-time, the 22-year-old remains a key member of Turkey’s squad and has been called up for their opening two Euro 2020 qualifiers, against Albania (Friday, 7.45) and Moldova (Monday, 5.0).

With Filip Benkovic returning from his loan spell at Celtic ahead of next season, there will be even greater competition at the back for City.

As such, Soyuncu has been linked with a loan move to Fenerbahce.
